The Kinghorn Black Rock '5' Race

Kinghorn Community Donations 2016We had a very successful race in 2016, selling out online in about 5 hours! We were fortunate to receive an increase in sponsorship,
                    particularly from Paul Skinner’s businesses (The Carousel,
                    Scotia Bathrooms and Scotia Gas Care) and
                    Brooks Running UK. We are grateful for the continued support of our sponsors, which allows us, in turn,
                    to support the fundraising efforts of the hard working organisations in our local community.
                    This year the race has donated the following:

                        £265 to Kinghorn RNLI to purchase the burgers they sold at their barbecue on race night- which they were able to raise about £800 from. Many generous people paid over the asking price to support the work of the RNLI.
£300 to Burntisland First Aid Ambulance Trust who provide the necessary first aid cover for the race.
£250 to Kinghorn Parish Church towards the upgrade of their PA system, and £120 to fund the new signage of the church charity shop. A £50 donation, above the hire fees, was made for the use of the church halls which are staffed on the night by church members.
£117 to Kinghorn Lunch Club to purchase two special chairs for use by clients, £100 to help fund their Christmas Party, and a further £200 to help with their running expenses.
£100 to the Kinghorn Brownies who kindly did the leaflet drop along the race route the week before the event. An additional £100 was donated to their race night fundraiser held in the Crown Tavern.
£300 to Kinghorn in Bloom, who won Best Kept Coastal Village in Fife in 2016, to support the Village Show. A further £150 was donated to support their ongoing activities.
£100 to the Kinghorn Library Renewed project.
£100 to Kinghorn Children’s Gala as a donation to the race night held in the Crown Tavern, and an additional donation of £200.
£200 to the Community Centre to support their 20th anniversary reception.
And finally, at time of writing (April 2017), a donation of £100 to the Primary School Spring Fayre.

                    
Later in the year the race will be making a donation of £400 to help with the provision of a defibrillator to be sited at the Community Centre.
That’s a total of about £2,500 going to support the fundraising activities of the local community that would have had to have been found elsewhere.
I’d like to express my sincere thanks to all the volunteers who give up their time every year to make the race happen and without whom we would not have this fantastic event with such a great reputation in the running community. My thanks also go to the crowds of locals who cheer the runners of all abilities along the race route. You make it a special Kinghorn evening!
